Swarm Robotics Research Group

We design and program robot swarms to emulate behaviors we observe in nature, such as the way ants hunt for food, or how immune cells search for infection. We use algorithms that mimic the process of natural selection to tailor these behaviors into efficient search strategies. Analysis of these strategies reveals the importance of interactions among behaviors, and of the interdependencies between behaviors and the environments in which the swarms are situated.
